Entry: Brrrr... cold Thursday, August 03, 2006

Brrrrr.... the chilly wind blowing at night when I'm cycling... feels like it's winter again! Brrrrr.... having a weak lung, a bad cough and cold and a sore throat doesn't really help either... brrrr.... freezing....

But the last few days have been great. My good friend from Malaysia during my Bachelors days is with her husband in Switzerland for 3 months, and she came to visit me here in NL for a couple of days. It was really great catching up on the good ol' days and laughing about all the funny and silly things we did during uni. And she has a knack of remembering all the stupidest things I did... and trust me, I did quite a bit of embarasssing thing back then... and obviously, she has remind me every now and then, not allowing me to forget and put it behind... grrr... but it was actually fun laughing at how silly we can be...

Went to Zuiderzee with her, and she tried some smoke haring... really good!! Much much better than the raw ones you get in those small haring stalls around. And I tried walking on stilts!! hahah!! It was funny... almost fell down... you wouldn't believe how difficult it can be... I tried walking forward, and end up just going backwards uncontrollaby.. of of course ended up falling!! Even took a video of it!! Then I showed her around Utrecht, although we didn't get to climb the Dom Tower. She came to Utrecht to have dinner with me again today, and I brought her to this nice tapas bar! Yummy yummy!! Just as good as the yummy food at the Malaysian restaurant.. although I have to say for the same price, the Malaysian food was definitely more filling! Other days she just walk around with her husband, and she enjoyed Efteling... and tomorrow, she's going to Rotterdam and the Kinderdijk... and off home she goes.... I don't really liked Rotterdam the one time I visited it... the only thing I remebered was the cube houses and that was interesting... but other than that, it's pretty too city-like for my taste (hahah... coming from a KL city gal).. but I think she's going to enjoy Kinderdijk! (I actually haven't even been there myself!)

I think I had quite an Asian weekend (had BBQ with some "Singaporean" friends (and an almost Singaporean but not quite) and then spending time with my Malaysian friend), that today, I actually said "Wahlau-eh" to my Dutch friend... she just stared at me blankly. Hahahah!! Maybe next time I should add some lahs and mahs and mehs!! Hahahah!! It's payback for all the difficult effort I have to make to say Goede, Groningen, Gelukkig and all other G-words... uuurrgghhh....

Enough ramblings... I'm off to bed... tomorrow long day at work...... presentation on Friday, and I'm still cracking my head thinking how to explain to people what my first paper is going to be.... aaarrggghh!!!
